Dr John Freeman, Emeritus Professor of Pediatric Epilepsy Johns Hopkins Hospital expired from a heart ailment on Friday 3rd January 2014. He was truly the father of the modern renaissance of the ketogenic diet. He was passionate about the diet and mentored so many of us from all over the world. He helped us in our initial steps to set up the ketogenic diet program in India. He patiently guided us in our endeavour to Indianise the diet and make it easy to use in different ethnic cultures. I will always remember his advice – ‘ Be a detective!’.

The ketogenic diet will be that much poorer by his loss. He will always be remembered by his colleagues and receive the blessings from all those persons with epilepsy who have got ‘cured’ due to his path-breaking work.

May his soul rest in peace.
